Amongst these trees on Mount Kurama, Japan,

About Reiki

Reiki is a natural, hands-on form of energy healing. It balances and replenishes the life force in all living things.

On the physical level, Reiki induces a deep state of relaxation in which your body can regenerate, repair and restore itself, whether from an acute injury or from a chronic condition. Reiki accelerates the return to health and provides welcome support during convalescence, protracted medical treatment and palliative care.

On the mental level, this deep state of relaxation is key to relieving stress and anxiety. For professionals, Reiki is the perfect antidote for burn-out because it not only acts like a re-boot for the mind, it brings back a sense of joy and optimism. Reiki is also a valuable aid in breaking old, emotional cycles and mental habits which, in Asian Medicine, are seen as the true cause of physical disease.

The combined effect is a genuinely holistic treatment that works on all aspects of your being, and which, with time, can steadily restore your vitality and joie de vivre.

More about Simon

Simon first started playing with energy in his last year at Cambridge University where he started practising tai chi. This was at the beginning of the 90s when the AIDS epidemic was at its height in the UK. After university, inspired by the incredible efforts to help those who were living with the disease, Simon qualified as a massage therapist, and then in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Before qualifying, though, a classmate sat him down and gave him ten minutes of Reiki: he was hooked.

Working in the field of HIV/AIDS back then was where Simon was initially moulded as a Reiki practitioner. Seeing the difference Reiki made in the lives of people who, at the time, had little hope taught Simon of Reiki's enormous worth; losing people to the virus taught him of his limits.

In 2001, Simon moved to rural Southern Italy where acupuncture supplies were hard to come by. He had to find alternative ways to work with energy in order to conserve his limited supply of needles and herbs. He relied heavily upon Reiki to make up the shortfall when treating all those conditions for which one usually sees an acupuncturist. He also expanded his massage skills by specialising in Anma (traditional Japanese therapeutic massage) and Thai Massage. He spent a year (2018-2019) in Thailand studying Thai Massage and Tok Sen at Wat Pan Whaen Temple in Chiang Mai under Ajahn Joe Khumlee, a traditional nuat mawr, or massage doctor.

In 2020, Simon, now in New York, was accepted as a Reiki Master Candidate by Brian Brunius, a Reiki Master with such a strong connection to John Gray and Takata Hawayo that he is seen by many as John Gray's lineage holder.

On the 22nd May, 2022, on the centenary of the founding of Reiki, and after an extremely demanding and intense course of preparation, Brian Brunius made Simon Light a Reiki Master in the tradition of Usui Shiki Ryoho, in New York, NY, USA.

More About Simon

My Approach

When Reiki flows, your biological or emotional intelligence takes hold of the energy and makes use of it according to your needs. My rôle is simply to act as a pipeline for the Reiki to flow into you.

So this is my approach: I am a channel, not a healer. The healer is inside of you. I cannot influence where the energy goes or what you do with it, but it will be safe and deeply beneficial because it is your own desire to heal that decides where the energy is needed. I just let the energy do what it needs to do.

As a channel, I cannot give you answers as would a psychotherapist. Nor can I make diagnoses like a doctor, but I can guide you through your experience of Reiki and help you interpret the changes that Reiki brings through the lens of Oriental Medicine.

Reiki is gentle yet effective. The effects of Reiki evolve at the pace set down by your body's deeper intelligence. However, the secret ingredient is time: the more time spent receiving Reiki, the greater and deeper the results.

Ideally, when I put my hands on one of the positions, I should keep them there until the energy stops flowing before moving on to the next position. This takes time. For this reason, I specialise in giving longer, extended treatments, and my shortest treatment lasts two hours. Three-hour sessions are common, and four-hour sessions are not unheard of. Most conditions tend to show improvement by the fourth application of Reiki.

The most powerful service I offer is the Four Day Intensive. When the body's vitality is seriously depleted, or when there is a need for very deep transformation, it is possible to come for up to eight hours of Reiki a day for four consecutive days.
